Lahontan consists of 880 acres of natural beauty: rock faced ridges, spring fed meadows, tall jeffrey pines, lodgepole and ponderosa pines, and ridge tops with incredible panoramic views. Nearly half of Lahontan is dedicated to open space and the 27 holes of championship golf. The Lodge, a private compound encompassing the restaurant, lounge, spa, fitness center, and golf shop, exemplifies the Lahontan mountain lodge architectural style. There are 509 homesites ranging in size from .5 to 1.92 acres.. A natural trout stream, Martis Creek, that winds its way through the community.

In the summer 1998, Tom Weiskopf designed the18-hole championship golf course. It is a paradise of sweeping fairways, stunning vistas, mature trees and challenges for every level of golfer and the area’s only private, gated, golf community. The championship course and the Par-3 course, which opened in 2001, are a breathtaking union of forest, mountain and stream where the beauty of nature and the game of golf co-exist in exquisite harmony.

The Golf Club's magnificent four-season recreation center includes a member's swimming pool, clay tennis courts, places to picnic and barbecue, a sand volleyball court, sporting fields and a pavilion with locker rooms and showers. Camp Lahontan also serves as the trailhead for members to hike and bike, as well as cross country ski during the winter months. The Boat House includes fishing docks, picnic areas, and picturesque gathering places. A community trail system beckons you to explore the more than 100-acres of permanently protected forest, meadows and wetlands. There is easy access to adjoining Martis Creek Wildlife Reserve.

The Lahontan Security Department has been operating 7 days a week 24 hours a day since June 1997. Homeowners are offered services which include a house check program and alarm monitoring services.
