The Northstar™
Resort is
a popular year round destination resort located between the quaint town of
Truckee and "the jewel of the Sierra," beautiful Lake Tahoe.
Begun in the early 1970's, the Northstar™
Resort is well known for its friendly atmosphere and emphasis on
families. It is situated on 8000 wooded acres, with 2,490 acres of skiable
terrain and 83 trails. Real estate at the Northstar™ Resort attracts both primary and second

The Northstar™ Resort
has its own community service district and on-site
fire station. The Northstar™ Resort has
repeatedly been ranked in the top 10 family resorts in the nation.
The Northstar™ Resort
is a nationally known alpine ski resort. High-speed
lifts access more than 90% of the downhill terrain with long,
well groomed cruising runs, great tree skiing, leg-burning mogul
runs and specially designed runs for the snow boarder in the family
(terrain parks and super pipe). For the Nordic skier the Northstar™ Resort
offers
acres of groomed trails that wind and dip through snow filled
forests and open up to panoramic views of the Sierras and Lake Tahoe. The Northstar™ Resort
also features numerous support facilities:
award-winning mountain-top restaurant, mid-mountain restaurant,
rental shop, ski school, child care facilities
with learn-to-ski options, ski shop and lodging accommodations.
If skiing is not your interest, enjoy the spa, swim laps, grab a
bite at one of the Northstar™ Resort's
restaurants or check out the shops. When
the snow melts, the Northstar™ Resort's
18 hole championship golf course, stables,
mountain bike park, and hiking trails will keep you actively enjoying the great
outdoors.
Approximately 1,400+ privately owned properties in the
original Northstar™ Resort
include homes,
condominiums, and lots. Regardless
of the property type, all owners become members of the
Northstar Property
Owners Association and pay $850 annually. The
Swim and Racquet Club is available to homeowners, renters, and their
guests only. It features an
Olympic size swimming pool, tot pool, lap pool, tennis courts (summer
only), spas, saunas and work out room.
The adult’s only lap pool and sun deck are open year round.
Teens will enjoy the Youth Center.
Aquatic exercise classes, nature walks, and tennis camps are
scheduled throughout the summer, along with other social activities.
Home sites are generally one-fourth to one-half of an acre in size.
Home sites located in the newest area to be developed, Big Springs,
were annexed into the Northstar™ Resort
in September of 1995.
A Design Review Committee reviews building and remodeling plans and
there are strictly controlled building guidelines. Condominiums
range in size from hotel-type properties to four bedroom town homes. Short
term rentals are available and there are several management companies to
assist homeowners who choose to rent their property (see the "rental
revenue" link on
the home page). The Northstar Club
was developed as shared ownerships condos (1/7).
In addition to the properties mentioned above, the 2005-2006 season marked
the beginning of a "new" Northstar™
Resort.
The Northstar™ Resort's
newest partner, East-West, has developed luxury condominiums and a new village with
quaint cobblestone streets, boutique shops, restaurants, and an ice skating
rink. The new village has completed 6 buildings: Iron Horse
South, Iron Horse North, Great Bear Lodge, Catamount, Big Horn, and the
One Village. There are still several new luxury condominiums available in
this desirable location. While the New Village serves as the heart of the
Northstar community, the newly developed Highlands is situated on the slopes
with distinctive, ski-in/ski-out residences. 12 Trailside
residences have been completed Nearby, the 300M five-star Ritz-Carleton will include 170 hotel
rooms, 84 full ownership residences (23 in the hotel) and 78
fractional ownership residences. The 405,000 square foot hotel is scheduled
to be completed in November 2009. At the base of the mountain, the Hyatt
Residence Club is almost complete. The
residences have 2 or 3 bedrooms with 1,300 to 1,900 square feet. You may
purchase as many ownership interests as you'd like. One membership provides
approximately 18-21 days. Prices range from $87,100 to $250,000.
